Holly Brook, 24, who set up her business Holly’s Lollies - which specialises in alcoholic sweets - 18 months ago, was sad to find out her grandmother Brenda Beesley, 84, of Alcester had never received a card or present for Valentine’s Day.

So she put out an appeal last Tuesday to various small businesses owners she had in her network via the Not on the High Street website to see if they could help.

And in the days leading up to Tuesday Ms Beesley received more than 60 cards and gifts biscuits, chocolates, necklaces, earrings, key-rings, which she opened on the special day.

Miss Brook said: I am part of a small community on Facebook of small businesses, they are a second family to me and the kindest people I have ever met online.

“Last week I asked if anybody did a Valentine’s card for Nan’s as my beautiful, wonderful, Nan and favourite lady told me she had never received one before.

“I went to pack the post bags for the day and an hour later I had requests for my Nan’s address from people all over the country wanting to send her one too.

“When she started receiving the deliveries last week she was overwhelmed and cried some tears of joy.
