Leamington Focus store closes after no buyer is found

LEAMINGTON’S Focus DIY store closed this week after a buyer for the branch could not be found.

The Leamington Shopping Park branch, which employed 31 people, shut its doors for the last time on Monday after a closing down sale.

Administrators Ernst and Young were called in by Focus’s former owners Cerebrus Capital early in May and since then 55 of the company’s stores have been sold to rivals Kingfisher, B&M Discounts and Wickes.

Some 900 jobs were saved but the Leamington branch was among 123 not on the list after the administrators failed to sell the business as a whole. The slow housing market and the depressed state of the economy was blamed for poor sales.
