Sandra Grafton and Ann Piggott spent time with special guests – including Lauren Laverne and Cherry Healey – to begin Oxfam’s 2013 Get Together campaign, which takes place each year around International Women’s Day on March 8.

The two friends raised more than £600 for the project last year by hosting a coffee morning and since then, they have raised another £800 by organising an Oxjam music event in October.

They are planning to host another event this year on International Women’s Day and are keen to encourage others in and around Leamington to organise their own gathering.

Sandra said: “It was fantastic get together with my friends for coffee and cakes. It was a fun and social event to talk about well-known women who inspire us and raise money for Oxfam’s projects that support women and girls living in poverty.”
