Leamington restaurant celebrates five years of Coffee and Communion events

A LEAMINGTON restaurant is celebrating the fifth anniversary of an initiative which brings the church and the community closer together.

Seasons Restaurant near the junction of Clarendon Road in Warwick Street, started a Communion and Coffee gathering in 2006 and now holds the events on the first and third Friday of every month.

Pam Iredale, co-owner of the restaurant, said: “After going into partnership with my youngest son, Andrew, and then regularly working on Sundays, it became increasingly difficult to attend our local church, and we found ourselves falling into the category of those who say ‘I’d love to attend communion – but I don’t always have the time’.

“But then my husband Brian and myself went to a discussion on the future of the diocese and came away so inspired by what the then Bishop of Coventry had to say about the Church getting out of church buildings and reaching people in the community that the words ‘communion and coffee’ came to mind so naturally.”

The services are conducted by the Rev Christopher Wilson, priest-in-charge of Holy Trinity and All Saints churches.

He said: “It’s wonderful to have the opportunity to worship in this way and I’m very grateful to Pam and Brian for their hospitality.

“During a simple service we pray for the busy life of the town around us and for the people and concerns on our hearts.” Services start at 10am. Call 424340.
