More than 20 students who are currently studying media are working together on filming and producing Do You Like Me Now?, which will hit the big screen at the Vue Cinema (formerly Apollo) in Leamington this summer.

And as well as enlisting the help of fellow students - studying theatre - at the college’s Henley campus, the creative team have been helped along the way by Warwickshire Police.

The force agreed to send two police officers to play roles as themselves in the teenage horror film - and the filming for their scenes took place at the college’s Leamington site on Wednesday.

Philippa Brown, part of the production team, said: “It has been stressful and chaotic, but we work well as a team. We started planning in March and filming in April.

“We film on Tuesdays and Wednesdays every week and sometimes in the evening as well.

“We are really looking forward to the screening. Once it’s done, we will have something to show for ourselves and it will be something we can show for the rest of our lives as we are having DVDs made as well.”

Written by student Becky Rose, the film centres around a young girl who has been bullied since junior school. Now in high school, she becomes friends with those who had been bullying her. But one weekend when the group decide to throw a party, events take on a sinister turn.

Most of the scenes are being filmed at the Leamington campus in Warwick New Road, where the media students take classes. They are all hoping to go on to take diplomas in visual communication or television.

Philippa said the police officers would feature in an action scene, adding: “We thought it would look better to get real police officers to take part rather than actors so that it would look more professional.

“It’s also a good way for them to get involved with young people.”
