Leamington theatre moves box office to town hall

CUSTOMERS wishing to buy tickets in person for shows at the Spa Centre in Leamington must now go to the town hall.

The theatre in Newbold Terrace is now closed for refurbishment until mid September, but a box office move to the town hall in the Parade has been confirmed as a permanent venture. The Spa Centre’s box office will continue to operate from 6pm on show nights.

Other changes will include two new phone lines and an upgraded online service. Charges for booking with credit and debit cards will be cancelled and, in most occasions, booking online will work out cheaper.

Centre manager Antony Flint said: “It’s a change, but it’s also an improvement. Whichever way you book from now on, it’s going to be a better.”

But Sheila Gent of Whitnash, who acts as a publicity officer for Leamington band Chevy, said: “This will result in a loss of bookings. I cannot remember any venue I have been to anywhere in the country where you could not buy tickets at the venue.”
