Leamington walker in helicopter rescue

A PENSIONER who collapsed while out walking near Leamington was rescued by an air ambulance crew on Sunday.

The 65-year-old woman had been on rural footpaths which were difficult for a land ambulance to access. A helicopter took nine minutes to fly in from Coventry Airport to assess the woman, who was alert and conscious. She was given glucose for low blood sugar levels and flown to University Hospital in Coventry for further assessment.
