Leamington wine merchant gets taste for politics

Alastair MacBrayne (left) has been chosen by branch members as the Ukip candidate for Warwick and Leamington in May’s General Election and is pictured being congratulated by branch chairman Tim Griffiths, a former Liberal Democrat voter.

Mr MacBrayne is an independent wine merchant and was the founder of Alastair’s Wine Bar and Bistro in Leamington and once worked at Burgis & Colbourne, now House of Fraser.

Other contenders were former Coventry Labour councillor Harjinder Singh Sehmi and south Warwickshire businessman Paul DeAth.
