POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was attacked while walking home from a night out in Leamington.

The 42-year-old woman was walking along St Mary’s Road in the direction of Sydenham Industrial Estate when she was grabbed from behind and dragged along the road, leaving her with a broken collar bone.

It was just after 2am when she was approached by an unknown male who grabbed her round the neck from behind.

The man then dragged her along the pavement for a distance before hitting her in the face. The man then apologised to her and ran off.

The woman was taken to Warwick Hospital where she was found to have broken her collar bone.

Police are asking for anyone who saw the assault or who was in the area of St Mary’s Crescent or St Mary’s Road in Sydenham, to come forward.

They would particularly like to speak to two white males, aged in their 40s, who were talking near to St Mary’s Church at around 1am and may have seen something unusual.
