Live advice for Warwickshire on how to avoid drink-fuelled trouble this Christmas

Chief Insp Jerry Reakes-Williams, who is leading the Warwickshire and West Mercia forces’ plan to tackla alcohol-related disorder over the coming month, will be available to listen to and respond to queries on Tuesday from 3pm.

Between December 20 2011 and January 1 3012, some 1,750 alcohol-related incidents of crime reported across Herefordshire, North Warwickshire, Shropshire, South Warwickshire, Telford and Wrekin and Worcestershire.

Chief Insp Reakes-Williams said: “Christmas is a time for celebration, but unfortunately some people take the festivities too far and drink too much. This can lead to anti social behaviour and violence which then impacts on the community.

“It’s our aim to make communities feel safe and reduce the number of alcohol-related incidents during the holidays and I am hosting this web chat so people can ask any questions they like about how we plan to tackle this issue.”

He added: “We’ll also be discussing topics such as drink-spiking, drink driving and how to get home safely after a night out.

“It would be great to hear from as many people as possible and I would urge anyone who might be online next Tuesday afternoon to get in touch.”
