Living Dead film is a hit for James

Paying homage to a classic 1960s horror film has helped a Leamington-born film director to find success with his latest project.

James Plumb, a former Arnold Lodge and Warwick School pupil, oversaw the filming of Night of the Living Dead Resurrection which was released on DVD in the UK last month and in the USA in April.

The zombie movie, which is based on George A Romero’s 1968 masterpiece Night of the Living Dead, has been in the top 40 of the sales charts in recent weeks with profits easily surpassing the meagre £5,ooo the film cost to make.

Mr Plumb, 33 , said: “It got a mixed reception because some people are not open to horror remakes but others have approached it with an open mind and really enjoyed the film.

“Everybody involved was a big horror fan so we were always going to be respectful to the original but we wanted to do our own thing at the same time .”

The owner of Cardiff-based production company Mad Science Films, Mr Plumb has been involved in a number of award winning short films along with music videos and documentaries.

Night of the Living Dead Resurrection, which is available to buy on iTunes and Amazon, is his first feature film.

His second feature-length project, Silent Night, Bloody Night: The Homecoming will be released later this year.
