LOCAL ELECTIONS: Rugby remains in no overall control

Rugby Borough Council remains in no overall control following yesterday's local elections.

The Conservatives remain the largest party on the authority, increasing their advantage by one to hold 21 of the council’s 42 seats, following the vote which saw a third of councillors up for election.

The Tories gained Hillmorton from the and independent, while Labour lost Rokeby and Overslade to the Lib Dems but gained Newbold and Brownsover from an independents to see their total of councillors remain at nine.

The Liberal Democrats gain saw their number of councillors rise to nine, the Independent Group remain on two councillors and non-aligned Independents drop from three to one.
