Long Itchington woman created book to support charity which has helped her in life

Amy Clennell, 35, who has cerebral palsy and is partially sighted, has dictated her own interpretations of popular fairy tales and fantasy fiction which have been made into a compilation called Mystical Tales of Unitalia.

Money from all sales of the book, which is available on the Amazon and will be released in braille on the website next month, will go to the CRCB Coventry Resource Centre for the Blind which Miss Clennell attends.

Miss Clennell said: “I love the language of the old fairy tales and remember when they were read to me.

“But some of these tales are also based on more modern fantasy like Harry Potter and Game of Thrones.

“It’s very much my own work and not a copy - a lot of people think that fairy tales are just for children but they have very deep and meaningful messages and my target audience is probably more 12 and upwards.”

In 2010 Miss Clennell wrote a play named Superstar’s New Threads, which was performed by a group of actors with learning disabilities at the GAP Community Centre in Warwick.

When Miss Clennell was a youngster, villagers rallied round to raise funds for her to undergo life-changing treatment in Hungary.

Miss Clennell said: “Part of being a disabled person is being able to accept your limitations but you still have to think positively.”
