Lorry fire on the M40

BOTH lanes of the M40 motorway between Junctions 15 and 16 Longbridge to Hockley Heath were closed this morning as firefighters and police attended a lorry fire on the hard shoulder.

One side of the carriageway was closed due to the fire while the other was closed because the smoke was causing a hazard to motorists.

The lorry was well alight on the side of the carriageway but firefighters managed to restrict the blaze and control it in the cab area of the vehicle.
