Lucky escape for lorry driver in crash in south Warwickshire

A lorry was destroyed in a crash near Gaydon on Monday - but luckily, no one was hurt.

The crash occurred on the M40 northbound, near junction 12 and the Warwick Services, at around 10.15am.

An ambulance crews arrived to find a lorry that had left the motorway, travelled down an embankment, through a fence and overturned in a field.

The driver, a man in his 40s, had got himself out of the lorry and received treatment at the scene for minor injuries including a laceration to his back. He was taken to Warwick Hospital for further treatment.

An ambulance spokesman said: “Considering the nature of the crash and the damage to the lorry, the driver was extremely lucky not to have suffered more serious or even fatal injuries.”
