M40 closed after lorries collide

A LORRY driver was taken to hospital with chest injuries after two heavy goods vehicles overturned on the M40 on Saturday.

The driver, a man believed to be in his 40s, had to be cut from his cab by firefighters after the crash on the M40’s northbound carriageway between junctions 15 and 16 at around 5.15pm.

The collision left both vehicles on their sides and the motorway was closed to traffic. The injured driver, who was trapped in his cab for half an hour, was treated at the scene for chest injuries and taken to Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.

The occupants of the second lorry, a man in his 40s, a woman in her 20s and a girl aged about seven, escaped unharmed but were taken to Warwick Hospital for checks.
