Man dies after being pulled from car blaze in Wellesbourne

A MAN has died after he was pulled from a burning car between Barford and Wellesbourne last night (Thursday October 6).

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the northbound carriageway of the A429 in the village at around 9pm, where they found a silver Renault Clio in a ditch at the side of the road near the Horticultural Research Centre.

Fire crews had already pulled the driver, a man in his 20s, from the car.

He had suffered burns and a serious head injury in the crash.

Ambulance crews immediately began emergency treatment and he was taken to University Hospital, Coventry in a serious condition but later died.

Police closed the A429 to traffic between Wellesbourne and the turning for Charlcote to allow collision investigators to examine the scene.

Police would like to hear from anyone travelling on the A429 between Wellesbourne and Barford on Thursday evening around 9pm or who saw the silver Renault Clio before the crash.

The dead man’s name has not been released.
