Maps show impact of HS2

Maps showing the extent of the effect of HS2 on Cubbington and other affected rural areas will be on display at an event in the village this month.

Cubbington Action Group Against HS2 is holding an information and coffee morning at the Methodist church hall in Queen Street on Saturday March 16 from 10am to noon.

The detailed maps show earthworks, cuttings, embankments and construction compounds along the proposed high-speed rail line between London and Birmingham.

Action group chairman Peter Delow said: “I’m extremely frustrated that HS2 Ltd has been totally deaf to our suggestions.

“I appear to have wasted a considerable amount of time and effort talking to them over almost a year.

“It appears that minimising the impact of HS2 on our local environment is not a priority for the company.

“I think that villagers will be deeply shocked when they see the size of some of the proposed earthworks and the extent of the construction sites.”

Cakes, cards and a DVD of the HS2 route will be on sale.
