More delays on the roads

MOTORISTS driving into Leamington face more delays because of roadworks on a main route leading to the town centre.

Kenilworth Road, near its junction with Northumberland Road, will be controlled by three-way traffic lights while a new sewer is installed by builders AC Lloyd.

Signs have gone up warning motorist that work will start on Monday and could last for approximately six weeks.

The roadworks could cause some delay to bus services to Coventry and the University of Warwick which go via Kenilworth and the direct route to the campus via the A46 and the two direct services to the city that also use the bypass.

News of the roadworks comes after the recent reopening of Lillington Road, which will offer motorists another route to the town centre.

The road had a lengthy closure to allow for sewer pipe replacement work by Severn Trent.

Leamington has faced months of traffic diversions and street closures while the £8 million replacement scheme is carried out.

Motorists still face disruption in the town centre with roadworks nearing completion in Dale Street. And in Warwick Street roadworks for Severn Trent were also scheduled to start on Monday and continue for around four weeks. During this time a section of Warwick Street between Clarendon Street and Kenilworth Street will be closed off until the work is completed.
