More new homes in Wellesbourne?

Plans for 350 new homes and a GP’s surgery have been outlined to members of Wellesbourne Parish Council by the potential developers.

The homes would be further up Ettington Road, following on from a current building project, with a proposed medical centre in Dog Close.

Developers Persimmon Homes wanted to talk to parish councillors and the public ahead of submitting any formal application for planning permission.

Parish council chairman David Close said it had been agreed that no comments would be made on the proposals at this stage, especially as the village recently had approved some 400 new homes, including 80 houses in Loxley Road which the district council rejected but were won on appeal.

All seem a drop in the ocean compared with the 1,500 new homes Gladman Developers want to build on Wellesbourne airfield.

Mr Close said: “As a parish council we are all adamantly opposed to this development at the airfield.”

Owners of the airfield have indicated they would be willing to sell to Gladman whose directors have already held preliminary talks with officers at Stratford District Council, although no formal application has been made.

There are also two public meetings planned by Gladman for St Peter’s Church Centre next week. The first is between 3.30pm and 6.30pm on December 11, with a second at 10am until 1pm on December 13.

In regards to the 350 homes plan, representatives from both the doctors surgery and Persimmon Homes will present the initial plans at Hastings House, Kineton Road, Wellesbourne, between 6pm and 9pm tomorrow (Dec 9).
