More than 50 search and rescue specialists mobilised as search for missing man, last seen in Rugby, continues

More than 50 search and rescue specialists joined forces with Warwickshire Police over the weekend as the search for a missing Rugby man continues.

61-year-old Keith Appleton was last seen on Newbold Road at 9.45am on Monday, January 19.

He is believed to be wearing a black jacket with a hood, a shirt and jumper, smart suit trousers and formal shoes.

Warwickshire Police launched a public appeal for information on the same day Keith had gone missing.

And yesterday Warwickshire Search and Rescue released a public statement, detailing extensive search efforts, which included having more than 50 search and rescue specialists out over the weekend.

Specialists from the Warwickshire organisation were joined by colleagues from Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, West Merica and Oxfordshire.

A spokesperson said they wished to thank Rugby's branch of GE power for their help, including the use of their car park and their mains power source.

Late last week the Advertiser cautioned against those who had taken to social media to claim that Keith had been found, explaining that such claims, when unfounded, can jeopardise searches.

As of 4pm today, January 25, Warwickshire Police confirmed to the Advertiser that Keith is still missing.

Residents are asked to remain vigilant until Warwickshire Police confirm that Keith has been found.
