Originally a history teacher, Andy perry went on to become an assistant headteacher, a role he held in two schools before promotion to deputy head at Petersfield School in Hampshire.

He joined Myton School as deputy head in 2011.

Myton’s board of governors recently took the decision to appoint an interim head to allow them time to recruit a new permanent headteacher, a job which they will advertise during the autumn term at the peak time for applications.

David Kelham, chairman of the board, said: “We’re very pleased to be able to announce that Andy Perry will be taking over as interim Head of Myton School.

“Crucially, Andy will be responsible for delivering the new school improvement plan and will provide certainty and continuity for staff and students into next year while we go about appointing a permanent Head Teacher for the school.”

Mr MacIntrye joined Myton School as headteacher in 2010 having spent most of his career teaching humanities and business education to children at schools in Leicester.

He said: “Congratulations to Andy on his appointment.

“It’s been a real pleasure working as part of the team at Myton.

“My years at our wonderful school have been some of the most positive experiences in my 37-year working life.

“I will always remember fondly my colleagues and our parents, carers and students.”
