People in Camberwell Terrace, who wanted to remain anonymous, have raised the issue with Labour parliamentary candidate Lynnette Kelly, who is working with police in an effort to stop the drug dealing.

Residents said the issue is blighting their day-to-day lives and has made them fear for the safety of their children.

Ms Kelly said: “Several residents in the area around Camberwell Terrace have raised concerns with me about a local drug dealing problem, and we need a long-term plan to tackle this.

“The first stage of this plan has to be raising awareness so that as many local people as possible are crystal clear that they should raise all the drug dealing incidents they observe with the local police.

“I would encourage all residents in the area, and indeed anyone else who observes any other non-emergency criminal acts, to contact the police on the 101 non-emergency number or email LSS.snt@-.

“It is unacceptable for local people to be faced by this drug dealing menace and understandably they want this issue confronted as a matter of urgency.

“All the information sent to the police will be treated with sensitivity, and it will allow us to get a better picture of the scale of the problem.

“The police will be able to respond even more effectively once we have more information. I am going to do all I can to play a role in turning this situation around, including continuing to work in the area to monitor the problem.

“I will be sending police any information I uncover and working with them to ensure we can make the area safer and an even more pleasant place to live.”

An ‘awareness leaflet’ has been delivered to residents reiterating Ms Kelly’s points and encouraging them to report any incidents to the police. She is hoping to win the Warwick and Leamington constituency for Labour in next year’s General Election.
