New group offers support for carers in south Warwickshire

A NEW support group for carers of adults is inviting carers from around south Warwickshire to its launch meeting at Kineton Methodist Church next Friday (November 30), Carers’ Rights Day.

The group, Carers 4 Carers, aims to provide such people with a chance to meet others in similar situations, exchange ideas for how to cope and relieve potential feelings of isolation.

The first meeting at the church in Southam Street, Kineton, will begin with coffee at 10am, following by a discussion on how to move the group forward.

Gillian Grason Smith, one of the founder members, said: “Caring can lead to ill health, poverty, social isolation and depression. Life can be a struggle as carers attempt to support someone else while the meter shows that their own reserves are close to empty.

“The aim of Carers’Rights Day is to ensure carers have access to the information and advice they need to claim benefits, access practical support and find out how tenchology can help ease the pressure.”

Anyone who would like to find out more about the group but is unable to attend the meeting can call Gillian on 640203 or email [email protected]
