Alex Walker, a skateboarder and the chairman of the SOS group who has led the campaign to have the skatepark built for several years, said: “We are so happy to have finally acquired enough funding to build a legacy in Victoria Park - and we are very thankful of both SITA Trust and Warwick District Council for what they have helped us to achieve.

“We aim to create a feel good factor in the park which has begun to become disused, apart from the bowls tournament in the summer.

“After working tirelessly to apply for the monies we worked alongside Ripride Skateshop to develop the plans with Canvas Skateparks, and they are looking fantastic.
