Maternity Unit staff had a busy end to 2014 with twice as many babies born as usual and the trend continued into the first day of 2015.

Fifteen mothers gave birth on New Year’s Eve with one baby narrowly missing out on being 2015’s first new arrival after being born at 23:53.

Instead, the first baby of the New Year came a little later at 2:16am and another twelve followed before the day was out.

One of those babies was Jack Beard who was born at 9:03am.

Parents James and Stephanie of Radford Semele near Leamington Spa said that it didn’t feel like New Year’s Day because they were so focussed on welcoming their first child into the world.

New mum Stephanie praised the team at Warwick and added that she had been really well looked after by amazing staff after experiencing her first minor contraction days before actually going into labour on Wednesday evening.
