New Year’s message from Whitnash mayor Cllr Judy Falp

THE message of peace on earth and goodwill to all men is the Christmas message I would like to endorse.

The theme for my civic year is unsung heroes. So many people go about their daily lives giving that bit extra to help their fellow workers, neighbours and communities. I hope the people of Whitnash will help me thank these people by nominating them for an award to be presented at the annual parish meeting in April.

Whitnash will need to draw on all its community spirit in 2012. The economic impact, especially on the young and old, sites for new housing in the local plan being identified, the future of our excellent care home The Lawns, our library and the electoral boundary review could all impact on the lives of residents in Whitnash.

The year will start in a positive note with the granting of funds to improve the play equipment in Acre Close by Warwick District Council and the town council with a further grant from a local company applied for.

A big thank you must go to the Friends of Acre Close for their hard work in helping the town council to put together bids. Community spirit in words and actions.
