It is the last in a series of events at the Newbold Comyn Arms to raise £6,500 for the Coventry charity, whose founder and chairman, John Scarisbrick, is the father of the pub’s landlady Sarah Miller.

The evening, Halloween Fright Night, will take place this Friday.

It will feature a disco, a cauldron of chilli, feature games, prizes for the best fancy dress outfit and trick or treats. Tickets are £10 each and include food.

Over the course of the year Sarah and her daughter Felicity, 24, who is the manager at the pub, have hosted and organised events including a charity golf day, a ukulele festival, which drew a crowd of around 1,500 people, a tug-of-war between the town’s pubs and a James Bond themed Casino night.

The fundraisers will be put through their paces as part of an ambitious Indian Himalayas Trek, involving eight hours of trekking per day and stopping only to sleep in tents with temperatures reaching as low as freezing.

Sarah said: “There are three hospices now, one in Middlesbrough, one in Liverpool and one in Coventry and what they want to achieve is 24-hour opening, where a parent can come in at any time to be helped. It’s going to cost an extra million pounds a year for them to be able to do it, so we want to try and raise as much money as we can.”
