The programme, including an extension to the North Chapel and the creation of additional parking bays on site, will run from January 12 to October.

This work is being done in order to provide more space in the Northern Chapel with improved waiting and reception facilities and much easier parking for bereaved families.

Works will also be put in hand to maintain and improve the woodland setting of the crematorium.

Warwick Disctrict Council, which runs the Oakley Wood, is to assure the public that the Crematorium will stay open during this time.

Cllr Michael Coker, portfolio holder for bereavement services, said: “We are providing these improvements to enhance an already excellent facility and in order to increase the welcome we provide for bereaved families at the crematorium in its woodland setting . Arrangements will be made in order to ensure that the building works do not interfere with services. Noise and disruption will be kept to a minimum and funeral services will not be booked for times when noisy work is being carried out.”

Funeral directors will be kept fully up to date with the works so that families can be informed if there are potentially disruptive works taking place.
