Old Leamingtonians Rugby Club to host motorcycle event for Conrad Lewis charity

The Conrad’s Ride event will raise funds the 353 charity - set up in memory of Pte Lewis who was the 353rd solider to be killed in Afghanistan - which supports severely injured servicemen and women

As part of the activities, Stratford Motorcycle Club will be putting on arena trials featuring junior riders on electric motorcycles and senior members tackling obstacles and taking part in a wheelie contest.

The event will also include stunt shows, live music and exhibition stands and will start with a ‘ride out’ led by Pte Lewis’s father Tony from Ragley Hall, via Warwick Castle where Conrad once worked and on to the rugby club for whom he also once played.

Entrance is £5, all of which will go to the charity.

Pte Lewis, 22, of 4th Battalion The Parachute Regiment was killed by an insurgent sniper in Helmand Province on February 9 2011.

The former Claverdon Primary School pupil who played for Central Ajax’s football teams and was and swam for Leamington Swimming Club as a youngsters was posthumously mentioned dispatches for his actions as a lead scout.

His citation states: “Amongst his peers at Check Point Quadrat, the most hazardous location in Nad-e Ali, he was recognised as a uniquely brave individual.

The charity 353 was set up in November 2011.
