A happy Christmas on the wards

With all the knocking copy about the NHS pouring out of the national press currently, I thought I would report a current experience of mine.

Having ruptured a muscle in my right leg just before Christmas, I was taken by ambulance to Warwick Hospital on the morning of Christmas Eve – not everyone’s ideal way of spending Christmas. Admitted to Guy Ward I was operated on that afternoon, spent Christmas Day there and taken home by ambulance on Boxing Day.

Throughout the whole experience I was made to feel welcome, cared for by professional and efficient nursing staff who gave me and my fellow patients a wonderful Christmas Day with Christmas cards, a Christmas present and splendid turkey lunch and all the trimmings.

I could not fault the medical care and nursing attention which I was given at Warwick Hospital which bore no relation to the stories about the NHS we currently hear in the national media.
