A parking free-for-all on our doorsteps

Following on from your article in last week’s Courier, I am writing regarding parking in and around Wedgnock Green and surrounding areas.

This problem is getting worse day after day. On a regular basis there are at least 56-60 cars parked around The Green, from early morning (6.30am) until ‘knocking off’ time. The residents cannot park outside their own homes because of this appalling situation.

Cars are cruising around looking for a free spot. It’s a wonder to me, and others, that these inconsiderate, desperate people, haven’t started to park on the Green.

These motorists consist of Warwickshire County Council staff, hospital workers and visitors, recycling and local factory workers, shoppers and anyone else who just wants a free car space. I once saw a motorist park his car, get out his folded bicycle and cycle off.

I might just add at this point that there are children who live on this estate and regularly play outside and must be constantly aware of the danger of cars pulling in and out of their freebie.

This is an accident waiting to happen and, before long, it will - mark my words.

As residents we are subjected to living on the edge of a giant car park with motorists who have no regard or consideration for the people who live here. I could set to music the constant slamming of car doors from am to pm!

When will something be done about the appalling situation? Where are the powers that be? Does anyone care? Obviously not. - Name and address supplied
