Centre would be a fitting memorial

After many years of establishing the Kingsway Community Centre, Ted Billington left the group with no council leader to continue his good work. Unfortunately this left the centre no one to move this facility towards the potential that he had set up.

Mr Billington’s inspiration had set up the ability within the community to move both the centre and club forward towards a spirit and good feeling, with people willing to join in and assist in all aspect of business.

May I recommend a new name: the Ted Billington Centre and Kingsway Club. This idea, pushed forward by a councillor or a group of councillors, could step forward and achieve the recognition and gratitude the people would welcome with open arms, bringing a spirit of friendship and taking the estate to a whole new life.

The car park should be left open for visitors to the facility, just as it was built for.

The situation being put forward is completely alien to the estate. It would cause more problems than assets, as well as noise, over-loaded car use and will be to the detriment of the privacy of local housing, overfilling the area with lots of work on other buildings within the Brunswick block.

I am writing this in the hope that someone within the council will understand the reasoning behind the request. - The Kingsway Community Centre Reinstatement Committee.
