Disgusted by strike over pensions

You ask how we feel about the big strike on Thursday (Courier, last week), well disgusted!

Putting it plainly, those people have had it very good for a long time, and when the country we all love is in dire straights due to the large deficit left by the previous government, it’s just adding to the misery. How on earth do they think we people in our 70s and 80s survive? We left school soon after the war ended. With very low wages, we never had money to spare for our pension or old age, and now we are feeling the pinch very much, but can do nothing about it.

Greed is the big problem, and no one is a winner in a strike. When certain union heads have a lunch costing £690 - how many ordinary folk have ever had a lunch that cost that much? But then, the union leaders have their money, they didn’t go without! Most people I talked to in my age group feel as I do. When we see the disasters in various parts of the world, we’re all very wealthy too! - W.M.Peace, address supplied.
