Every area should take its share

I could not pass up the opportunity to respond to your recent article entitled “Our future plan” (Courier last week). I will begin by saying that your title is a contradiction in term.

This is not our plan and never will be. My wife and I have taken every opportunity available to us to register our opposition to this plan and previous plans but far from listening to us, or the widely held beliefs of many from the Heathcote and Whitnash areas, the plan has actually become far worse with regard to the level of proposed building in the afore mentioned vicinity. The road infrastructure in this area can not sustain this level of build and no current proposal has changed our view of this. In fact the current road layout doesn’t support the current level of traffic.

The councillors and our local MP should be ashamed of themselves for this plan, it is very unfair. Everybody is aware that more housing is required in Warwick/Leamington but all in one place? I think not!

Every area should take its share and that includes the north of this town/area. I could, at this stage, become very cynical but there would appear to be no point. Sitting in traffic jams on a building site for the next 16 years doesn’t do for me or anybody else I would guess?

I clearly don’t understand why the council have to humiliate the people in the south of Leamington, again, by putting us through another consultation period when they take no time to consider past responses to past consultations? It is, in my opinion and for what that is worth, a big box ticking exercise. The council couldn’t care less what we think. This being made clear by this latest farce.
