Green belt land must be protected

As the Courier is known for providing a fair and balanced view of local news and issues I would ask the question when is an article going to appear that shows the impact of the Beausale travellers camp upon the local residents who were effected by the illegal development that appeared overnight by their homes?

I would ask why some people feel it is their right to destroy greenbelt protected countryside just because it is their personal preference to live there instead of by a busy road. Many Warwickshire and Leamington people would like to live in a quiet unspoilt part of the countryside but live according to their means and do not demand preferential treatment from the community in order to support a away of living. If this was the case there would not be any countryside remaining, but camps of travelling people would be able to destroy this fragile and diminishing part of our heritage.

I’m not sure that I understand that if a caravan and green belt land can be afforded by these people why housing can’t be afforded and therefore with this the permanent schools and access to medical treatment would follow. If they want to travel in the summer then my advice is to join a caravan club. - Name and address supplied.

• We have run numerous articles in the past on the illegal camp at Beausale and its impact on nearby residents. We sought the views of the travellers as we had been unable to speak to them thus far and wanted to hear their side of the story and let our readers make a judgment themselves on what they had to say. By publishing those views we are in no way condoning their actions and we will continue to report on the situation at Kites Nest Lane in an objective way - Editor.
