Here to protect park from development

Although sympathetic to the predicament of Warwick Sea Scouts, the Friends of St Nicholas Park group are astonished that Warwick District Council has given landlord’s permission for a large sea scout HQ to be constructed on the Myton Fields side of St Nicholas Park without any public consultation. The Friends were not consulted regarding this decision, despite attending regular park improvement meetings with WDC.

The aims of the Friends group are to improve, conserve, support and protect St Nicholas Park for the benefit of all, working in partnership with our local councillors, council officers, contractors, traders and service providers and also to act as a voice for the local people, residents and users of the park. We are therefore committed to safeguarding our park against any building development in order to preserve the park as a public amenity for the enjoyment of future generations. Open spaces are an absolute necessity in town centres and any encroachment on them is always to be regretted.

The Friends have set up an on-line petition on their website www.fosnp.co.uk and invite anyone opposed to the landlord’s permission given by Warwick District Council to add their signatures. Further information can also be found and a membership form may be downloaded for anyone wishing to join the group to support their aims. The Friends would also like to hear anyone’s views and can be contacted by email on [email protected]. - Management Committee, Friends of St. Nicholas Park
