How many more lives will be lost?

Once again I would like to express my concerns which I have already expressed before the light switch- off.

A young man has lost his life six days into the switch off, a family have been left devastated and all thanks to making cutbacks at the cost of one life, but how many more lives will be lost?

I have many friends who work shifts that have expressed their concerns to me as they have to work late or start early which means walking about in the dark. They say they will turn the lights on for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve for drunk revellers but how about they leave them on for us shift workers?

Their are also a lot of people that don’t even know the lights go out. These people will get caught out if out after midnight. Light switch offs have been tried in different counties and have been found not to work. These areas had signs as you entered the town to warn you of the switch off. I have not seen one single sign warning people entering the area that the lights go out. Turning the lights back on isn’t about winning, it’s about what is morally right.

The decision of turning the lights off need reverting back now. - Mark Kirwan, via email.
