If it happens, I’ll go watch Racing Club

I would first of all like to emphasise that I wholeheartedly support the provision of sites for Gypsies and other travellers by Warwick District Council, which I understand is a legal obligation anyway.

However, as a long-standing supporter of Leamington FC, what I find very difficult to accept is a) after all the years of physical and financial effort by all those involved to provide a suitable home for the club, why The New Windmill Ground should now be considered as a suitable travellers’ site and b) why on earth (according to the article in the Courier) “Brakes are keen to move off the Harbury Lane site” as this begs the obvious question ‘Why are they?!’.

It’s taken the best part of 20 years to get the ground to the standard it’s at now, so why on earth are the directors of the club (presumably) so keen to throw all that work away and start all over again somewhere else - and if so, where?

As a vice president of the club, personally I do not know of any fans there who are in favour of this proposal, and in fact if it goes ahead I shall resign as a VP, cut up my season ticket and go and watch Racing Club Warwick instead.
