In the dark over lack of support

On Tuesday a vote was taken at a council meeting of Warwickshire County Council on whether street lights should be put back on at night.

The Labour group, in line with its manifesto, voted in favour of a resumption of lighting our streets at night.

I regret that other parties voted against or, in the case of the newly elected Green Party member for Brunswick ward, Jonathan Chilvers, abstained.

I am at a loss to understand why Mr Chilvers could not support a move that would have allayed the fears of elderly residents, shift workers and students who now have to move about at night in fear in the dark.
