It could be money well spent

So George Osborne believes women who give up work to raise children have made their choice so should receive no financial help. Of course George is not old enough to remember the so called ’latch key kids’ whose parents were criticised when both worked. Blamed by governments and assorted social behaviour experts for neglecting their children, so creating a generation responsible for much of the crime and social disorder in our society.

So what’s changed? I respectfully suggest that George has a word with his mate David. Isn’t he the one who set such store by the family, it being the cornerstone of the British way of life?

With so many people out of work or in jobs paying less than a living wage it seems wicked to penalise those who already have, arguably, the most important job of all, bringing up young children.

If mothers choose to work then fine, that is their choice but it must also be fine for mothers or fathers who decide to stay at home with their children.

If they need it give ‘em the money - it could be money well spent in the long run.
