Kenilworth School is a credit to the town

I am writing on the subject of your front page article about Fair Punishment at Kenilworth School from last Friday’s KWN.

Firstly why was this piece chosen as the headline article particularly on the weekend of the Diamond Jubilee? A more appropriate article would surely have been the piece on page three about the very same school holding a tea party for senior citizens as part of the Jubilee celebrations.

Secondly, Kenilworth is fortunate to have such an excellent school available for the young people of the town and its surrounding areas. As a parent of children presently in the school I do not think discipline is excessively strict, indeed the uniform is deliberately relaxed and comfortable for pupils. There is a strong work ethic at the school and teachers do their very best for those in their charge.

Most people would agree that these days teachers have a tough job providing an environment conducive to learning. The school should feel supported by the local community, rather than criticised for imposing a few expectations of appropriate dress and appearance – such as those expected by many a potential future employer! - Name and address supplied.
