Left bereft of Christmas cheer

A regular Christmas attraction for us is Carols at the Castle in Kenilworth, many times on our own and often with friends. But sadly this year’s offering means we will not be attending another. What a disappointment.

A mild, if windy night should have made up for past years when inclement weather has seen the event cancelled, but we left after only half an hour – and so did many others – I counted 30 leaving at the same time. The programme was uninspiring, the carols miserable, the readings interminable, the sound system was poor and was there really any need for a soloist, especially sing in Czech? I’m sure most of us went to sing well-known carols.

We’re glad that some charity will have benefitted from our £10 entrance fee, but we returned home feeling rather deprived of Christmas cheer.
