Making good use of our heritage

I read with great interest Diana Kelsey’s letter in last week’s edition of your newspaper and her plea to the council to make better use of the Old Courts in the Shire Hall.

She is not the only resident of Warwick to feel this way and a number of us have already banded together to form a new community group - Heritage Theatre.

Warwick and its surrounding areas have an abundance of wonderful historical sites, the inheritance of centuries of being at the centre of major events in our island’s history, and we want to ensure that this legacy is kept alive and accessible to everyone through the medium of theatre and the performing arts.

Whether performing in the Old Courts, or one of the other wonderful historical buildings within the town, we aim to bring local history to life and give audiences an authentic flavour of what it was like to live in times past.

Our inaugural production takes place on 15 and 16 November (coincidentally in the Old Courts), and further information about the group and this production can be found on our website at www.heritagetheatrewarwick.co.uk
