Money’s to blame for Helen Ley closure

Helen Ley Care Centre is the last respite and care centre for people with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) in England, Wales and Ireland.

It was given to the MS society’s head office for safe keeping! Specialised equipment, dedicated staff all to be thrown on the scrap heap.

Helen Ley respite centre was the vanguard for MS centres, the first and the best in the world. Built by public subscription by the people of Coventry, Leamington Spa, Warwick, Kenilworth and the surrounding area.

We believe the MS society’s head office want to sell off the care centres. The society say Helen Ley only served five per cent of people with MS, but they are the five per cent worse off and most vulnerable.

The volunteers of the MS society are shaking tins on street corners, organising parties, car boot sales, etc. It is not us who want to sell off respite care but head office capitalism raising its ugly head again.

Well, Helen Ley is the last one left and threatened with closure unless we can find someone with a big heart and lots of money to rescue her before January 2012. Please help. - Jayne and John Canning, address supplied.
