New fence is a brutal eyesore

I am writing as the chairman of the Friends of Priory Park (FOPP).

One of the prime footpaths through this fantastic park has been wrecked by the recent removal of a beautiful old picket fence, and its replacement with a brutal industrial security pallisade. This ill-thought out scheme was designed to protect council worker’s personal vehicles in the staff car park off Cape Road, Warwick. Whilst we sympathise with this laudable aim, we feel it is at too heavy a cost to the beauty of Priory Park, one of the finest city-centre green spaces in the country.

FOPP has been campaigning to reinstate the old fence once more, and the recently elected county councillor John Holland (Lab) has made the issue one of his election promises.

In order to support his campaign, FOPP is asking anyone who shares this view to sign an on-line petition by following the link below. The petition will definitely make a difference, and lend power to Cllr. Holland’s elbow when he raises the issue in the council chamber.

We inherit Warwick as a beautiful town to live in, because our parents and grandparents fought similar battles over “silly little issues” like these. I declare this duty now falls to our generation, and call you to action.
