No decision on Green Belt development
Your correspondent from Northumberland Road (Postbag last week) stated that I had recently announced that development on Green Belt north of Leamington was acceptable.
I would like to reassure all readers that I have not made this statement. The true position is that council officers are correctly reviewing potentially suitable sites for housing and employment growth throughout the district, some promoted by landowners, some not, and their recommendations will be considered by full council before a public consultation exercise on ‘preferred options’ is undertaken later in the spring.
It is premature to begin a debate about any potential sites, north, south, east or west, whether in the Green Belt or not, until this detailed, comprehensive and impartial study has been done. - Cllr Michael Doody, Leader, Warwick District Council.
