Not a sunny outlook on solar panels

The solar energy panels to be installed on Warwick District Council properties viewed in isolation are a win-win situation for local authority, tenants and energy companies. However, the only thing ‘green’ about a continent and government promoting such disastrous energy policies is the greenness and sheer stupidity of those with the power to ruin us all. These panels will enable the tenants to use any of the electricity they generate totally free of charge and pay those financing the operations 43 pence index linked for 25 years.

Now quite simply if we were to be charged 43 pence per unit for every kilo watt hour we consumed most of us would be horrified as our electricity bills would triple over night and plunge us into a new dark age. Ah yes but we will be cutting our carbon foot prints and building a brighter sustainable future for our world and creating jobs at the same time!

We do not currently manufacture solar panels in this country, and as a considerable proportion of these panels are manufactured in China, a country currently building more coal fired powered power stations than we are closing, the green argument loses even more credibility.

Another issue is the effect on the country’s balance of payments which have been in growing deficit for 25 years whilst our dozy establishment have assured us that such an imbalance didn’t matter as invisible earnings and innovation would some how incredibly balance the books. I am afraid the proverbial chickens have come home to roost perhaps on our solar panels and the culmination of cheap imports from China and the world trade imbalances this has encouraged are I believe at the heart of the financial crises currently engulfing Europe and the West and is further fortified by a political elite who unchecked will surely lead us to our financial ruin.

I am going to order my panels so that on good sunny days I can perhaps afford to make a cup of tea! - John Pearce, Stepping Stones, Church Lane, Lighthorne.
