Park should be given back to the people

It is my understanding that Priory Park was gifted to the people of Warwick by the person who then owned the park. There are local people who remember it as a private park, fenced off to the general public.

I believe no money was involved then, as is the case with Warwick Police station which Warwickshire County Council saw fit to gift to the police.

As custodians of the park I query their right to sell or give away land that should be returned to the people of Warwick. It should not be necessary for The Friends of Priory Park to try to bid for the land. This is not the first time that land from the park has been sold or given away and this must stop.

The county council and the police authority should examine their conscience and return what is left of the park to Warwick people under the custody of the council.- Jean Casey, Vine Lane, Warwick.
