Plenty of spaces
For many months I have mentally added up the number of parking spaces shown on display boards as you approach the town. It always averaged around 700 spaces.
In recent months it has risen to 1,200 and this week the number of empty spaces at two of the carparks is not displayed, just showing “open”. This must be a strong indication that the policy of increasing parking charges has an adverse effect on shops, and may even result in lower income from these charges. - Reg Cox, via email.
